Commonwealth members should follow the example of Canada and refused to attend CHOGM if it is hosted by the Sri Lankan government. Sri Lanka is in clear violation of many of the principles held by members of the Commonwealth and by participating in the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Sri Lanka, Commonwealth members are condoning Sri Lanka's abuses in human rights on its ethnic minorities.

The human rights violations perpetrated on the Tamil population by the Sri Lankan government are being exacerbated by the Australian security screenings on the Tamil asylum seekers that come here.
